Extremity radiograph unknown 6
Publication Date: 2009-09-09
Look carefully at this set of x-ray images.
- Is there a fracture? If so, which bone has a fracture? No fracture
Incorrect. Try looking at both images, especially the lateral view!Distal phalanx
Correct! This patient has a normal appearing AP x-ray, but the fracture is easily apparent on the lateral view. This is a good example of why it is important to notify the radiologist why you are requesting a study. Remember one view is often not enough to diagnosis many pathologies.Middle phalanx
Incorrect. The parts of the middle phalanx that are visible appear without fracture in both views. Try again!Proximal phalanx
Incorrect. The proximal phalanx is not visible in these images. Try again!
